ACC’s Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule Calculator Now Updated for 2023

Points

  • The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released the 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule.
  • In response, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) has developed a brand-new Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule Calculator, allowing health professionals to foresee the impact of potential changes to their careers.

Summary

Just close to a month after the CMS released their 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule, the ACC in response has released a brand-new 2023 version of their Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule Calculator. The ACC notes that this new version accommodates changes to specific metrics accounted for in the changed ruling for the incoming year, encompassed by topics such as work, practice, expertise, and liability relative value units (RVUs).

Said the ACC, the new calculator should “allow clinicians and practice managers to estimate the potential impact of changes to practices.” They added that reduced conversion factor adjustments are expected to impact several services, all in an effort to mitigate expected increases elsewhere, like increases in clinical staff labor.

The ACC is currently working with policymakers to enact comments formulated from the initial form of the ruling; likewise, the college is expected to enact changes to the calculator as new details surface. The Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule Calculator (in its current form) can be found on the ACC website here.
