Summary
This prospective cohort study evaluated the longitudinal impact of ambient air pollution on disease activity and flare risk in patients with established rheumatoid arthritis (RA). While environmental inhalants like tobacco smoke and silica are recognized in the pathogenesis of RA, which globally affects 0.5% to 1% of the adult population, the specific link between ambient pollutants and RA disease activity remains insufficiently characterized.
